Citizens can access police reports online
ABERDEEN — Citizens will now be able to get a police report from the Aberdeen Police online, officials said.
The police department is partnering with PoliceReports.US LLC to provide police motor vehicle accident reports that citizens or insurance companies can obtain via the Internet.
Starting May 15, accident reports can be retrieved via the township website, www.aberdeennj.org.
To get a report, citizens click on the link for "departments" and select "Police." A link on the police page will direct users to the link for Police Reports.US: http://aberdeentwpnj.policereports.us.
There is a $3.00 service fee, payable to PoliceReports.US, for online reports, plus a 75 cents charge per page. A credit card or debit card is required for the transaction.
Citizens still have the option to obtain a police report in-person at the Aberdeen Police Department. There is no service fee to obtain reports in-person other than 75 cents per page charge.
Reports can be searched by using any of the following information: report number, date of accident, name of driver or accident location, said Lt. Joe Cole, administrative commander of the department.
Reports should be available within five days from the date of the accident, officials said.
